Well we got there OK. Set of from Hampshire 3.30 am and arrived at 7.00 pm via Chunnel, Brussels, Liege, Aachen, Frankfurt, Wurzburg, Nurnburg, Weidhaus, Rozdavod (sp), Pilsen. 900 miles each way....
Hotel was OK.
Marionette theatre (near Charles Bridge) was ...different! but good.
(Orpheus).
O'che's Irish pub was...Irish.
So was James Joyces.
John Bull "English Pub" was just like any other english
pub... empty.
Czech pubs were excellent.... walking towards hotel from town,
went into one for a beer.(*) Left pub, continued
towards hotel. Needing a P, went into czech pub to use facilities. Can't really
use them without buying a beer. GOTO (*)......
Transport.. use trams. Cheaper ... 8 krowns or 12 krowns for 15 or 60
minutes travel. Stamp time in little machine on tram. Didn't see any inspectors,
but the hotel lady said they are araound.
Cars with British plates are not
safely left unattended on Cz roads..left mine for less than two hours in a "good"
area and it was broken into despite a whacking great big steering wheel lock....
Renault dealer at end of No 7 tram route was excellent, three new locks fitted
for 5000 crowns (around 100 quid) picked up by insurance. Always carry 200
krowns in one pocket "Its all I've got" when a Cz policeperson stops
you for an imaginary infringment. The on-the-spot fine tends to go straight in
to his pocket.. but I didn't have actual experience of this...
Market at Holesovice is cheaper than those in town. And its got a McDonalds...

Our car (the Renault 19) in "no mans land" just before we
got stung for 120 quid... O:(Basically, we had too many
ciggies
(1200 too many between us) and the German Kustoms didn't consider
success in "zwie welt-krieg und einen fussballspiel" to be a good
argument... and I didn't like the look of their guns, either...
